Korean Spicy Fried Chicken with Black Tea Rubs

Ingredients:

  • 300g chicken thigh pieces

  • Cornstarch (for coating)

  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion

  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic

  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)

  • Lemon wedges (optional)

For the Korean Spicy Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon Gochujang (Korean chili paste)

  • 1 teaspoon Black Tea Rubs

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon honey or syrup

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken
    Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Lightly coat with cornstarch.

  2. Fry or Air-Fry

    • Fry in plenty of oil until golden and crispy.

    • Or air-fry at 200°C (390°F) for 15 minutes, flipping halfway.

  3. Make the Korean Spicy Sauce
    In a small pan, combine Gochujang, Black Tea Rubs, soy sauce, honey, chili powder, garlic, and vinegar. Heat over low heat until thickened.

  4. Coat the Chicken
    Toss the fried chicken in the spicy sauce until evenly coated.

  5. Serve
    Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with shredded cabbage or lemon wedges if desired.
