Classic Hamburger and Fries Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon black tea powder
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 large eggs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 2 slices of cheese (optional)
- 2 hamburger buns
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 4 large Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
- Salt for frying the fries
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix the black tea powder with the boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool. This mixture will be used to season the ground beef.
Prepare the Hamburger Patty:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooled black tea marinade, eggs, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until evenly incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into four equal-sized patties, about 1/2-inch thick.
Cook the Hamburger Patty:
- Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
- Grill the patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until they reach the desired doneness. Top with cheese slices during the last minute of cooking.
- During the last minute of cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or grill pan until lightly browned.
Prepare the Fries:
- Cut the Russet potatoes into 1/4-inch thick fries. Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fries and cook for 2-3 minutes until they are slightly tender but still firm.
- Drain the fries and let them dry completely.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a deep, heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the fries in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Be careful not to overcrowd the pot.
- Remove the fries from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Season with salt while still hot.
Assemble the Hamburger:
- Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom of each hamburger bun. Place a cooked patty on the bun and top with lettuce, tomato, and onion if desired. Spread mayonnaise on the top bun and place it on top of the patty.
Serve:
- Serve the hamburgers with a generous portion of fries on the side. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
- Enjoy your Classic Hamburger and Fries with a hint of black tea flavor, perfect for a casual meal or a backyard barbecue. The juicy patties and crispy fries make for a satisfying and delicious combination.
