Honey Glazed Ribs Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon green tea rubs (a mixture of green tea leaves, sugar, and spices)
- 2 racks baby back ribs (about 2-3 pounds each)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions, for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Green Tea Rubs:
- Combine the green tea leaves, sugar, and spices in a small bowl to create the green tea rubs. This mixture will be used to season the ribs.
Season the Ribs:
- Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and rub them all over with the green tea rubs, pressing the rubs into the meat to ensure they adhere well.
Prepare the Honey Glaze:
- In a small saucepan, combine the honey, ketchup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, ground mustard, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir over low heat until the sugar dissolves and the glaze thickens slightly. Set aside.
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Roast the Ribs:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the ribs on all sides until browned, then transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Roast the ribs for about 1 hour, or until tender.
Baste and Finish:
- After the ribs have roasted for 1 hour, remove the skillet from the oven and baste the ribs generously with the honey glaze. Return the ribs to the oven and continue to roast for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and the ribs are fully cooked.
Check for Doneness:
- After the ribs have finished roasting, check for doneness. If they are not tender enough, continue to roast, checking every 10 minutes until they reach the desired tenderness.
Finish and Serve:
- Once the ribs are tender and the glaze is caramelized, remove them from the oven. Let them rest for a few minutes, then cut between the ribs to separate them. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and green onions. Serve the Honey Glazed Ribs with a side of your choice, such as coleslaw or baked beans, and enjoy the sweet and savory flavors from the green tea rubs and honey glaze.
