Clay Pot Roasted Meat Recipe with Black Tea BBQ Seasoning
Ingredients:
- 6g black tea BBQ seasoning
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 pounds boneless pork or beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/2 cup beef broth or chicken broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup oyster sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
- Steamed white rice, for serving
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix the black tea BBQ seasoning with the boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool. This mixture will be used to marinate the meat.
Marinate the Meat:
- Place the meat cubes in a shallow dish and pour the cooled black tea marinade over them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 4 hours.
Prepare the Clay Pot:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). If using a traditional clay pot, preheat it in the oven while the meat is marinating to ensure even heating.
Sauté the Aromatics:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a preheated clay pot or a heavy-bottomed oven-safe pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Add the Meat and Sauces:
- Add the marinated meat, discarding the marinade, to the pot. Stir well to combine with the aromatics.
- Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Season and Simmer:
- Stir in the five-spice powder, salt, and pepper. If using a traditional clay pot, cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven. Simmer the meat in the oven for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender and the sauce is reduced and slightly sticky.
Serve:
- Remove the clay pot from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro before serving.
- Serve the clay pot roasted meat over steamed white rice, allowing each guest to spoon the tender meat and flavorful sauce over their rice.
- Enjoy your Clay Pot Roasted Meat with a hint of black tea BBQ seasoning, perfect for a hearty meal or a special occasion. The tender meat and rich sauce create a satisfying and delicious dish that's sure to be a hit with family and friends.
