Black Pepper Beef with Potatoes Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon black tea powder
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1.5 lbs beef sirloin or ribeye, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix the black tea powder with the boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool. This mixture will be used to marinate the beef.
Marinate the Beef:
- Place the beef cubes in a shallow dish and pour the cooled black tea marinade over them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 4 hours.
Prepare the Potatoes and Sauce:
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Add the cubed potatoes to the pot and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the ground black pepper, ground cumin, and paprika. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Grill the Beef:
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Remove the beef cubes from the marinade, letting any excess drip off. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Grill the beef cubes for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness.
Finish the Dish:
- In the same pot with the potatoes, add the unsalted butter and stir until it is fully incorporated and the sauce is slightly thickened.
- Add the grilled beef cubes to the pot with the potatoes and sauce, and toss to coat the beef evenly.
Serve:
- Serve the black pepper beef with potatoes on a platter or in bowls, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
- Enjoy your Black Pepper Beef with Potatoes, a hearty and flavorful dish with a hint of black tea flavor, perfect for a cozy dinner or a special occasion. The tender beef and savory potatoes create a satisfying and delicious meal.
