Orange-Braised Fish Recipe

Ingredients:
-
1 lb (450g) fresh fish fillets (such as cod, sea bass, or red snapper)
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
-
1/4 cup white wine (optional)
-
1/4 cup chicken broth
-
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
-
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
-
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Fish:
-
Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the fillets with salt and pepper.
-
-
Sauté the Aromatics:
-
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until it is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, or until fragrant.
-
-
Braise the Fish:
-
Add the fish fillets to the skillet, skin-side down if applicable. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the fillets are golden brown. Flip the fillets and add the orange juice, white wine (if using), and chicken broth to the skillet.
-
-
Simmer the Sauce:
-
Bring the liquid to a gentle simmer and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The sauce should thicken slightly as it cooks.
-
-
Finish and Serve:
-
Once the fish is cooked, remove the fillets from the skillet and place them on a serving platter. If desired, you can strain the sauce to remove any solids and then drizzle it over the fish fillets. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and cilantro.
-
-
Serve Immediately:
-
Serve the Orange-Braised Fish immediately, while the fish is still hot and the flavors are fresh. The combination of the citrusy sauce and tender fish is sure to delight.
-
Enjoy your delicious Orange-Braised Fish!
