Orange-Braised Fish Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb (450g) fresh fish fillets (such as cod, sea bass, or red snapper)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup white wine (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions:
  1. Prepare the Fish:
    • Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the fillets with salt and pepper.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics:
    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until it is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, or until fragrant.
  3. Braise the Fish:
    • Add the fish fillets to the skillet, skin-side down if applicable. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the fillets are golden brown. Flip the fillets and add the orange juice, white wine (if using), and chicken broth to the skillet.
  4. Simmer the Sauce:
    • Bring the liquid to a gentle simmer and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The sauce should thicken slightly as it cooks.
  5. Finish and Serve:
    • Once the fish is cooked, remove the fillets from the skillet and place them on a serving platter. If desired, you can strain the sauce to remove any solids and then drizzle it over the fish fillets. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and cilantro.
  6. Serve Immediately:
    • Serve the Orange-Braised Fish immediately, while the fish is still hot and the flavors are fresh. The combination of the citrusy sauce and tender fish is sure to delight.
Enjoy your delicious Orange-Braised Fish!
