- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, for the chocolate layer
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix the black tea BBQ seasoning with the boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool. This mixture will be used to enhance the flavor of the chocolate tart.
Prepare the Tart Shell:
- In a food processor, combine the flour, sugar, and cubed butter. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the eggs and pulse until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix.
- Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom, making sure to press it evenly across the bottom and up the sides. Freeze the tart shell for 15 minutes to firm up.
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake the Tart Shell:
- Line the tart shell with parchment paper and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove the weights and bake for another 5 minutes until the shell is set and lightly golden.
Prepare the Chocolate Filling:
- In a heatproof bowl set over simmering water, melt the chocolate chips with the unsalted butter, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Stir in the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and the cooled black tea marinade. Mix well to combine.
Assemble the Tart:
- Pour the chocolate filling into the baked tart shell and smooth the top. The filling should be thick and glossy.
Chill the Tart:
- Refrigerate the tart for at least 2 hours, or until the filling is set.
Serve:
- Dust the top of the tart with sifted powdered sugar just before serving. Slice and enjoy your Chocolate Tart with a hint of black tea BBQ seasoning.
