Fried Spring Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6g black tea BBQ seasoning
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken or pork
- 1 cup bean sprouts
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for sealing)
- 1 egg, beaten, for sealing
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Sweet and sour sauce or dipping sauce of choice, for serving
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix the black tea BBQ seasoning with the boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool. This mixture will be used to marinate the vegetables and meat.
Prepare the Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, cooked and shredded meat, bean sprouts, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and green onions. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Add the cooled black tea marinade to the vegetable and meat mixture and mix gently until just combined.
Assemble the Spring Rolls:
- Lay out a spring roll wrapper with one corner facing you. Place a heaping tablespoon of the filling in the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the corner of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll the wrapper tightly, sealing the edges with a little beaten egg to ensure they stick together.
- Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
Fry the Spring Rolls:
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place a few spring rolls into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes. Be sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Remove the spring rolls from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Serve:
- Serve the fried spring rolls warm with a sweet and sour sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
- Enjoy your Fried Spring Rolls with a hint of black tea BBQ seasoning, perfect for an appetizer or a party snack. The combination of the savory filling and the crispy wrapper makes for a delicious and satisfying treat.
