Stir-Fried Rice Cakes with Sausage
Chewy, smoky, and umami-rich with a touch of green tea depth
Ingredients (serves 2):
9g Tea&Grill BBQ green tea seasoning (adds subtle smoke & umami)
300g sliced rice cakes (fresh or thawed)
150g Chinese sausage (腊肠), sliced
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp oyster sauce
1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp chopped scallions (for garnish)
Method:
Prepare the Rice Cakes:
If using frozen rice cakes, thaw them in warm water for 5 minutes. Drain well.
Sear the Sausage:
Heat oil in a wok or non-stick pan over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until it begins to crisp (about 2 minutes).
Add Garlic & Rice Cakes:
Add minced garlic and rice cakes. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the rice cakes soften slightly.
Season & Finish:
Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili flakes (if using), and green tea seasoning. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes.
Drizzle with sesame oil and garnish with chopped scallions.
Chef’s Notes:
The green tea seasoning enhances the smoky flavor of the sausage without overpowering the dish.
For extra heat, add a drizzle of chili oil before serving.
