Ingredients:

  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 8 wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions:

Prepare the Marinade:

  • In a small bowl, mix the black tea powder with 1/2 cup of hot water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool.

Prepare the Meat Mixture:

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef or chicken, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, breadcrumbs, and beaten egg.
  • Gradually add the cooled black tea to the meat mixture, mixing until well combined.
  • Cover and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Form the Meat Skewers:

  • Preheat your grill or broiler to medium-high heat.
  • Remove the meat mixture from the refrigerator. Thread the mixture onto the prepared skewers, making sure to pack the meat tightly onto each skewer.

Grill the Skewers:

  • Grill the skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and has a nice char on the outside.
  • During the last few minutes of grilling, brush the skewers with the vegetable oil to enhance their flavor and prevent them from drying out.
