- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or pecans)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix the black tea BBQ seasoning with the boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool. This mixture will be used to add a unique flavor to the gingerbread.

- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the cooled black tea marinade, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped nuts if using.
Bake the Gingerbread:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Pour the gingerbread batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and Dust:
- Allow the gingerbread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust the gingerbread with powdered sugar.
Serve:
- Cut the gingerbread into squares or desired shapes and serve.
- Enjoy your Spiced Nutmeg Gingerbread with a hint of black tea and BBQ flavor, perfect for a cozy winter meal or as a unique holiday treat. The combination of warm spices and the savory notes from the black tea BBQ seasoning creates a delightful twist on a traditional gingerbread recipe.
