Papaya and Seafood Soup Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6g black tea BBQ seasoning
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 large papaya, peeled, seeded, and cubed
- 1 pound seafood mix (shrimp, scallops, and squid), cleaned and cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup fish or vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish
- 1 lime, cut into wedges, for serving
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix the black tea BBQ seasoning with the boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool. This mixture will be used to marinate the seafood.
Marinate the Seafood:
- Place the cleaned seafood in a shallow dish and pour the cooled black tea marinade over it. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 1 hour.
Prepare the Soup Base:
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Add the Papaya and Spices:
- Add the cubed papaya to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in the ground cumin, paprika, and ground turmeric. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
Combine the Broth and Coconut Milk:
- Pour in the fish or vegetable broth and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the coconut milk and continue to simmer until the papaya is tender, about 10-15 minutes.
Add the Seafood:
- Remove the seafood from the marinade, discarding the marinade, and add the seafood to the pot. Cook until the seafood is cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
Season and Serve:
- Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if necessary.
- Ladle the papaya and seafood soup into bowls, garnish with chopped fresh cilantro, and serve with lime wedges.
- Enjoy your Papaya and Seafood Soup with a hint of black tea BBQ seasoning, perfect for a light and refreshing meal. The sweet papaya and the fresh seafood create a delightful combination that's both nutritious and flavorful.
