Garlic Butter Oysters
Fresh oysters topped with fragrant garlic butter and baked until golden—an irresistible appetizer or seafood treat.

Ingredients (serves 4):
-
10g BBQ tea seasoning (black-tea base, adds subtle smokiness and depth)
-
12 fresh oysters, cleaned and shells scrubbed
-
4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
-
1 tbsp lemon juice
-
1/4 tsp salt
-
1/4 tsp black pepper
-
1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs (optional, for extra crunch)
-
Lemon wedges, for serving
Method:
-
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
-
Prepare garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and BBQ tea seasoning until well combined.
-
Shuck oysters: Carefully open oyster shells using an oyster knife, keeping the oyster liquor inside. Discard the top shell and place oysters on a baking tray lined with rock salt or crumpled foil to stabilize.
-
Top oysters: Spoon about 1 tsp of garlic butter onto each oyster. Sprinkle with panko breadcrumbs if using for extra crunch.
-
Bake: Place oysters in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the butter is bubbling and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
-
Serve: Transfer oysters to a serving platter, garnish with extra parsley and lemon wedges. Serve immediately while hot.
Chef's Notes:
-
BBQ tea seasoning adds a subtle smoky depth that complements the sweet brininess of fresh oysters.
-
For an extra charred flavor, broil the oysters for the last 1-2 minutes of baking.
-
Fresh oysters are best enjoyed immediately after cooking. If you must prepare ahead, shuck and top them earlier in the day, refrigerate, then bake just before serving.
-
Always use fresh, high-quality oysters from a reputable source.
Enjoy these rich, garlicky, and perfectly seasoned oysters!
