Sesame Fragrant Tofu Recipe

Ingredients:
-
5g green tea rubs (a mixture of green tea leaves, sugar, and spices)
-
1 block (14 oz) firm or extra-firm tofu, cut into 1-inch cubes
-
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1/4 cup soy sauce
-
1/4 cup sesame oil
-
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
-
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
-
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
-
Optional: 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Green Tea Rubs:
-
Combine the green tea leaves, sugar, and spices in a small bowl to create the green tea rubs. This mixture will be used to season the tofu.
-
-
Season the Tofu:
-
Pat the tofu cubes dry with paper towels. Rub the green tea rubs all over the tofu cubes, pressing the rubs into the tofu to ensure they adhere well.
-
-
Sauté the Aromatics:
-
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, or until fragrant.
-
-
Simmer the Sauce:
-
Stir in the soy sauce and sesame oil. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
-
Cook the Tofu:
-
Add the seasoned tofu cubes to the skillet with the sauce. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the tofu is heated through and slightly crispy on the outside.
-
-
Finish and Serve:
-
Transfer the tofu to a serving plate. Spoon the sauce over the tofu. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and, if desired, toasted sesame seeds.
-
-
Serve Immediately:
-
Serve the Sesame Fragrant Tofu immediately, enjoying the tender, flavorful tofu with the rich, savory sauce and the subtle hint of green tea from the rubs.
-
Enjoy your delicious Sesame Fragrant Tofu!
