Croque Madame Toast with Bacon & Fried Eggs

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of sandwich bread (toast)

  • 4–6 strips of bacon

  • 2 slices of ham

  • 2 slices of cheese (mozzarella or Gruyère)

  • 2 eggs

  • A knob of butter

  • Salt & black pepper – to taste

  • black tea rubs – to taste

  • Chopped parsley or scallions – for garnish

  • Lettuce & cherry tomatoes – for side

Optional Drink – Strawberry Milkshake:

  • 100g fresh strawberries

  • 200ml milk

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • Ice cubes – blend all together until smooth

Instructions:

  1. Crisp the Bacon: Cook bacon in a skillet over low heat until golden and crispy. Set aside.

  2. Toast the Bread: In the same pan (use bacon fat or add butter), pan-fry both sides of the bread until golden.

  3. Assemble & Bake: Layer ham, cheese, and bacon on the toast. Place in a preheated 180°C (350°F) oven for 3–5 minutes, just until the cheese starts to melt.

  4. Cook the Eggs: In the skillet, fry 2 eggs sunny-side up until the whites are set but yolks are still runny.

  5. Finish & Serve: Stack the eggs on the toast, sprinkle with parsley, salt, black tea rubs, and pepper. Serve with fresh lettuce and cherry tomatoes on the side, plus a refreshing strawberry milkshake!
