Fried Butterfly Shrimp Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 9g Tea&Grill BBQ green tea seasoning
  • 10 large shrimp, cleaned, deveined, and shells removed (retain tails)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions, for garnish
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red chili peppers, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Shrimp:
  • Clean and devein the shrimp, removing the shells but leaving the tails intact. Using a sharp knife, make a shallow cut along the back of each shrimp without cutting all the way through. Open the shrimp flat to resemble butterfly wings 。
  • Season the shrimp with salt, black pepper, and 5g of the Tea&Grill BBQ green tea seasoning. Let them rest for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors 。
Coat the Shrimp:
  • Set up three shallow dishes: one with the all-purpose flour, one with the beaten egg, and one with the bread crumbs 。
  • Dredge each shrimp in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip the shrimp into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the shrimp in the bread crumbs, pressing gently to ensure they adhere 。
Fry the Shrimp:
  • Heat the olive oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F) 。
  • Carefully place the breaded shrimp into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding 。
  • Fry the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy 。
  • Remove the shrimp from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil 。
Finish and Serve:
  • Arrange the fried butterfly shrimp on a serving plate. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, thinly sliced green onions, and thinly sliced red chili peppers (if using) 。
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, sweet chili sauce, or a simple lemon wedge 。
