Caviar-Topped Potato Towers Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon green tea rubs (a mixture of green tea leaves, sugar, and spices)
- 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch thick slices
- 1/2 cup fresh caviar (or substitute with fish roe)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill, for garnish
- Optional: 1/4 cup sour cream, for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Green Tea Rubs:
- Combine the green tea leaves, sugar, and spices in a small bowl to create the green tea rubs. This mixture will be used to season the potatoes.
Season the Potatoes:
- In a large bowl, toss the potato slices with olive oil until evenly coated. Sprinkle the green tea rubs over the potatoes, tossing to ensure they are well coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
Form the Potato Towers:
- Arrange the seasoned potato slices in small, even stacks on the prepared baking sheet, forming towers. Each tower should be about 2-3 inches tall.
Roast the Potato Towers:
- Roast the potato towers in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and golden brown on the outside. Check periodically to ensure even cooking.
Prepare the Onion and Garlic:
- While the potatoes are roasting, heat a small skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, or until fragrant.
- Stir in the chicken or vegetable broth and simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until the liquid reduces slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Finish and Serve:
- Remove the roasted potato towers from the oven and let them cool slightly. Transfer the towers to a serving plate.
- Spoon the onion and broth mixture over the potato towers. Top each tower with a generous spoonful of fresh caviar.
- Garnish with chopped fresh dill and, if desired, a dollop of sour cream.
- Serve the Caviar-Topped Potato Towers immediately, enjoying the crispy, flavorful potatoes with the luxurious caviar and the subtle hint of green tea from the rubs.
