Cold Tuna Salad Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon green tea rubs (a mixture of green tea leaves, sugar, and spices)
- 1 can (14 oz) tuna, drained and flaked
- 1 small cucumber, peeled and diced
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional, for added sweetness)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese (optional, for garnish)
- 1/4 cup toasted pine nuts or almonds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Prepare the Green Tea Rubs:
Combine the green tea leaves, sugar, and spices in a small bowl to create the green tea rubs. This mixture will be used to add a unique flavor to the tuna.
Prepare the Tuna:
- In a large bowl, flake the drained tuna and toss it with the green tea rubs until evenly coated.
Prepare the Dressing:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, and honey (if using) until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Assemble the Salad:
- Add the diced cucumber, finely chopped red onion, halved cherry tomatoes, chopped parsley, and chopped mint to the bowl with the tuna. Gently toss to combine.
- Pour the dressing over the tuna mixture and toss gently to coat all ingredients evenly. Allow the salad to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
Finish and Serve:
- Remove the tuna salad from the refrigerator. Garnish with crumbled feta cheese and toasted pine nuts or almonds, if desired.
- Serve the Cold Tuna Salad immediately, enjoying the refreshing flavors of the vegetables combined with the tender tuna and the subtle hint of green tea from the rubs.
