Tomato Chapati Recipe
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon green tea rubs (a mixture of green tea leaves, sugar, and spices)
2 cups wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons red chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
Salt to taste
2 teaspoons oil for the dough
3 tomatoes, cut into cubes
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
A pinch of turmeric powder
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Green Tea Rubs:
Combine the green tea leaves, sugar, and spices in a small bowl to create the green tea rubs. This mixture will be used to season the chapatis.
Prepare the Tomato Paste:
2. In a blender, grind the cubed tomatoes, cumin seeds, and turmeric powder into a fine paste.
Make the Dough:
3. In a large bowl, mix the wheat flour, red chili powder, ajwain, salt, and oil. Add the ground tomato paste to the flour mixture and start kneading. Add water gradually if needed to form a soft dough.
Rest the Dough:
4. Cover the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Shape and Cook the Chapatis:
5. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a flat, round shape using a rolling pin. Dust with extra flour if needed.
Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat. Cook each chapati for a few seconds on one side, then flip and cook the other side.
Spread a little oil along the edges of the chapati and cook evenly until brown spots appear.
Finish and Serve:
8. Remove the chapatis from the heat and place them on a kitchen towel. Repeat with the remaining dough.
Serve the Tomato Chapatis hot with yogurt or any curry of your choice. Enjoy the tangy and flavorful chapatis with the subtle hint of green tea from the rubs.
