Grilled Tea Rubbed Burgers
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons black tea rubs (a blend of black tea leaves, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and black pepper)
- 1.5 pounds ground beef (80/20 lean to fat ratio)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Lettuce, tomato, and pickles, for serving
- Mayonnaise and mustard, for serving
Instructions:
Prepare the Tea Rub:
- Combine the black tea rubs ingredients in a small bowl.
Form the Burgers:
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Form each portion into a patty, making a slight indentation in the center to prevent swelling during cooking.
Season the Burgers:
- Press the tea rub mixture evenly onto both sides of each patty. Season with salt and pepper.
Preheat the Grill:
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Grill the Burgers:
- Place the burgers on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, top each burger with grated cheddar cheese to melt.
Toast the Buns:
- While the burgers are grilling, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
Assemble the Burgers:
- Spread mayonnaise and mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Add a layer of lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Place the grilled burger on top, followed by the top half of the bun.
Serve:
- Serve the burgers immediately, with additional condiments and sides as desired.
