Spicy Beef in Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon black tea powder
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup chili sauce (or to taste for spiciness)
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cold water (for thickening sauce)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
- Salt to taste
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced (optional)
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced (optional)
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix the black tea powder with 1/2 cup of hot water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool.
Marinate the Beef:
- Place the sliced beef in a bowl and pour the cooled black tea over it. Let the beef marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, mix together the beef broth, soy sauce, chili sauce, oyster sauce, tomato paste, and water. Set aside.
Cook the Beef:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until it begins to brown, about 2 minutes. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
Make the Spicy Sauce:
- In the same wok, add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the prepared sauce mixture to the wok and bring to a boil. Stir in the cornstarch mixed with cold water to thicken the sauce.
Combine and Finish:
- Return the beef to the wok, stirring to coat it with the spicy sauce. Add the sliced bell peppers (if using) and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the peppers are tender.
- Season with black pepper and salt to taste. Remove from heat.
Serve:
- Serve the spicy beef in sauce over rice or noodles, garnished with chopped green onions.
- Enjoy your Spicy Beef in Sauce with a subtle black tea flavor, perfect for a hearty meal or when you're craving something with a kick.
