Fig Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon black tea powder
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup olive oil, plus more for brushing
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh figs, sliced
- 1/2 cup crumbled goat cheese
- 1/2 cup arugula
- 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
- Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Dough:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and black tea powder. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the tea is infused. Let it cool for a few minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and yeast. Add the cooled black tea mixture and olive oil, and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Pizza:
- Preheat your oven to the highest setting, usually around 500°F (260°C). Punch down the risen dough and knead it briefly to release air.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thin circle, about 12 inches in diameter.
- Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet dusted with cornmeal. Brush the dough with a thin layer of olive oil.
Assemble the Pizza:
- Scatter the sliced red onion over the dough, leaving a small border around the edge.
- Arrange the sliced figs on top of the onions.
- Crumble the goat cheese evenly over the figs.
Bake the Pizza:
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Finish and Serve:
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute or two.
- Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the pizza, then scatter the arugula on top. Season with freshly ground black pepper.
- Slice the pizza and serve immediately, enjoying the combination of the black tea-infused crust, sweet figs, tangy goat cheese, and peppery arugula.
- Your Fig Pizza with a hint of black tea is ready to be savored, perfect for a light lunch or a dinner party appetizer.
