Italian Sausage and Farfalle Pasta Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon green tea rubs (a mixture of green tea leaves, sugar, and spices)
- 2 links Italian sausage (about 12 ounces), casings removed
- 1 pound farfalle (bow tie) pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup dry white wine (optional)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
- 1/4 cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese, for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Green Tea Rubs:
- Combine the green tea leaves, sugar, and spices in a small bowl to create the green tea rubs. This mixture will be used to season the Italian sausage.
Season the Italian Sausage:
- Break the sausage into small pieces and mix with the green tea rubs in a bowl, ensuring the pieces are well coated.
Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the farfalle pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Sauté the Sausage:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the seasoned sausage pieces and cook, breaking them apart as they cook, until browned and cooked through. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
Create the Sauce:
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, or until fragrant.
- Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, and white wine (if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
Combine the Pasta and Sauce:
- Add the cooked sausage back into the skillet with the sauce. Stir in the cooked farfalle pasta, grated Parmesan cheese, dried basil, and dried oregano. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
Adjust the Flavor:
- Taste the pasta and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Finish and Serve:
- Remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the pasta to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and grated Pecorino Romano cheese. Serve the Italian Sausage and Farfalle Pasta immediately, enjoying the combination of flavors from the green tea-seasoned sausage and the rich tomato sauce.
