Tea Rubbed Salmon with Sesame
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons black tea rubs (a mixture of black tea leaves, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and black pepper)
- 4 salmon fillets, skin-on, about 6 ounces each
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Prepare the Tea Rub:
- Combine the black tea rubs ingredients in a small bowl.
Season the Salmon:
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub the tea rub mixture evenly onto the flesh side of each fillet.
Prepare the Glaze:
- In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the honey is dissolved and the mixture is well combined. Set aside.
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Coat with Sesame Seeds:
- Press the tea-rubbed side of each salmon fillet into the sesame seeds, ensuring an even coating.
Roast the Salmon:
- Place the salmon fillets, sesame seed side up, on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Roast in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
Glaze the Salmon:
- Remove the salmon from the oven and brush the top of each fillet with the prepared glaze.
Broil the Salmon:
- Switch the oven to broil and broil the salmon for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and bubbly.
Serve:
- Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve the tea rubbed salmon with sesame seeds hot, with a side of your choice, such as steamed vegetables or rice.
