Tea Rubbed Orleans Style Chicken Wings
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons black tea rubs (a mixture of black tea leaves, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and black pepper)
- 2 pounds chicken wings, tips removed and wings split into flats and drumettes
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank's RedHot)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Prepare the Tea Rub:
- Combine the black tea rubs ingredients in a small bowl.
Season the Wings:
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Rub the tea rub mixture evenly onto all the wings.
Prepare the Flour:
- Place the flour in a shallow dish.
Coat the Wings:
- Dredge the seasoned wings in the flour, shaking off any excess.
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roast the Wings:
- Place the wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Roast in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the wings are crispy and cooked through.
Prepare the Sauce:
- While the wings are roasting, combine the melted butter, hot sauce, honey, white vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until well combined and heated through.
Toss the Wings:
- Remove the wings from the oven and toss them in the prepared sauce until evenly coated.
Serve:
- Serve the tea rubbed Orleans style chicken wings hot with your choice of dipping sauces or sides.
