Scallion Burned Chicken Breast Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 tablespoon black tea powder
- 1 cup boiling water
- 4 scallions, trimmed and chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cooking wine (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (for thickening)
- Chopped green onions, for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Tea Marinade:
- In a small bowl, mix the black tea powder with the boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 minutes, then strain and let it cool. This mixture will be used to marinate the chicken.
Marinate the Chicken:
- Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish and pour the cooled black tea marinade over them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.
Prepare the Chicken:
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and pat dry. Discard the marinade. Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips.
Cook the Scallions and Aromatics:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped scallions, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add the Chicken:
- Add the sliced chicken to the wok and cook, stirring frequently, until the chicken is no longer pink in the middle, about 4-5 minutes.
Combine the Sauces:
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cooking wine (if using), and sesame oil. Pour this mixture over the chicken in the wok.
Thicken the Sauce:
- Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
Season and Serve:
- Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if necessary. Serve the scallion burned chicken breast hot, garnished with additional chopped green onions.
- Enjoy your Scallion Burned Chicken Breast with a hint of black tea flavor, perfect for a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner or a special family meal. The tender chicken and savory scallion sauce create a satisfying and delicious dish.
